Manuscript evaluation – Starts at 0.5 cents per word
During a manuscript evaluation (sometimes called a manuscript analysis or critique), an editor reads an author’s manuscript and provides commentary for every chapter or major section. Basically, a manuscript evaluation is a one-sided, super condensed version of a developmental edit.
Rather than making notes directly on the manuscript, the editor will make a separate document consisting of many pages of notes that give you feedback on what the story does well and what could be done better. These notes also give you a suggested road map on how to go about improving your story.
